The purchase of Lucasfilm by Disney may have lead to several new Star Wars movies dotting the horizon, but the purchase also means another major franchise now lives in the House of Mouse: Indiana Jones. A fifth adventure for everybody’s favourite bull whip cracking archeologist has been rumoured for quite some time now, but we never really got anything concrete. Now, that changes with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy revealing to Vanity Fair that Indy 5 “will one day be made inside this company”. But, while she’s optimistic that it will one happen, she also added that it is very early days at this stage, “When it will happen I’m not quite sure. We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it”.
With all of Lucasfilm’s attention on the Star Wars franchise at the moment, it may be a couple of years till we see Indy on the big screen again, and any rumours surrounding the project, such as Chris Pratt donning the fedora, are just that. But it’s nice to know that the classic Indiana Jones theme will one day echo through the halls of cinema again.
