When Christoph Waltz was announced to be joining the cast of James Bond 24, the Internet rumour mill went into overdrive that he would be playing classic Bond villain Ernest Stavro Blofeld , head of evil organisation Spectre. When Spectre was announced as the name of the latest adventure for the suave super spy, the rumours gained more momentum, even though Waltz's character was named Franz Oberhauser. People, of course, assumed this was a ruse to throw us off the scent to his character's true identity, but the actor has being keen to stress that he is not playing Blofeld. At one point, he revealed to Collider that Oberhauser wasn't the head of Spectre, saying "It's more interesting than that".
But the rumours have persisted, with many fans believing this to be another case similar to the cover up of Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness or Talia Al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises. So, when British GQ asked him the question again, he replied, "That is absolutely untrue. That rumour started on the Internet, and the Internet is a pest. The name of my character is Franz Oberhauser."
He is right about the Internet being a pest, and I really think it should stop, he seems to be getting angry. I know I don't want to make Christoph Waltz angry. Also, I wholeheartedly believe that Blofeld will indeed be in Spectre, but Waltz is not him. I think that while Oberhauser will indeed be the big bad of Spectre, he is a little fish within the organisation, with Blofeld kept waiting in the wings for a future Bond installment.
