While Disney have the Jon Favreau directed The Jungle Book locked in for release on October 9th 2015, Warner Bros. have their own darker version of the classic tale in the works, which marks Andy Serkis' directorial debut. Set for release on October 21 2016, the wheels are finally moving on Jungle Book: Origins, with Benedict Cumberbatch announced as the movies villain, Shere Khan. Cumberbatch will provide the voice for the menacing tiger (Idris Elba is voicing the character in the Disney version), though it is not known if the movie will be straight CGI or will go for motion capture performances, but with Serkis, the poster boy for motion capture involved, that would be obvious choice. Either way, Cumberbatch is a great choice for the fearsome feline. Just look to his work with Smaug in The Hobbit movies for the proof.
