With 10 DC films scheduled between now and 2020, and none of them being a standalone Superman movie, the future of DC's poster boy superhero has been shrouded in doubt, and there has been speculation that the company may not want to pursue any more individual projects with the character as they look to fast track a Justice League film and try to steal some of Marvel's thunder.
Well, now Henry Cavill has weighed in on the issue for Entertainment Weekly, and he had a different take on what the future holds for the man of steel.
"There's plenty of time for individual Superman sequels. He's a tough character to tell. People like the darker vigilante. I think it speaks to the human psyche more easily rather than a god-like being that we can't really understand. Once we have a more expansive universe we can delve more into the character of Superman and hopefully tell more stories."
To me, this sounds like Cavill is confident that there is still work to be done with the character and that he most definitely has a future with his own movies. Whether or not Cavill is privy to information that we aren't is anybody's guess, but for now at least, the man wearing the cape is sure that we will get more Superman adventures in the next few years.
