The Summer blockbuster season gets off to an early start next year, with the long awaited Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hitting our screen on March 26th 2016. Besides a teaser trailer that didn’t really set pulses racing here at The Movie Bit, thing have been quiet as of late when it comes to Zach Snyder’s follow-up to Man of Steel. But, with the Licensing Expo kicking off in Las Vegas tomorrow, our first look at the movies synopsis has come our way, shedding a bit of light on the clash between two DC Comics icons:
Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
So, there’s nothing really new here. We always knew the events of Man of Steel would come into play, painting Superman in a none too favourable light and putting him directly in Batman’s cross hairs. And of course, there is something bigger than the two of them that forces them to put aside their difference’s and work together (especially with Justice League in 2017). But is this ‘greater danger’ Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor? Sure, he has been known to be a massive threat on occasion, but you have to believe with two icons sharing the screen, and Snyder’s penchant for going over the top, a bald business man isn’t going to be the only bad guy at play here.
We’ve a long way to go till Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comes our way, so there’s plenty of time for more details, especially how Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman figure into the story, to be dropped.
