Not content with having him as The Flash in their fledgling DC Cinematic Universe, Warner Bros. are looking to add Ezra Miller (We Need To Talk About Kevin, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) to the Harry Potter universe, with Variety reporting that the actor is in talks to join Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as Kredan, a person with magical powers who meets Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scarmander when he is New York City on his travels to find and document magical creatures. Miller already made quite an impression in We Need to Talk About Kevin, and he is yet another interesting choice for the Harry Potter spin-off following Redmayne and Inherent Vice’s Katherine Waterson, as female lead Tina.
Miller’s name isn’t the only name been bandied about, with the publication adding that Josh Gad and Michael Cera are meeting with the studio next week for the role of Scamander’s rival Jacob (this picture is really thinking outside the box for a tentpole movie, if you ask me), and director David Yates (the last four Harry Potter movies) is keen on Alison Sudol (Dig) as Tina’s younger sister, Queenie. Though, Warner Bros. is keen on a big name actress for this role, according to Variety. With filming slated to begin later this year, expect the casting to come together in the next few months.
Marking the screen writing debut of J.K. Rowling, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them comes our way November 18th 2016.
