It was teased ever since the first movie did unbelievably well in test screenings, but now it’s official. Denzel Washington will be strapping on the boots of waging vigalante Robert McCall yet again for more ultra violent dispensing of justice with The Equalizer 2, set to come our way 29th of September 2017, almost three years to the day after the first film opened.
At the moment, Washington is the only returning name, and it’s unknown if original director Antoine Fuqua, currently reteaming with Washington for The Magnificent Seven remake, will return. I for one hope he does, because, while there are many directors who can handle ultra violent thrillers like this (Matthew Vaughn for one), I don’t think they’d be able to do it with the same flair and style as Fuqua.
