Michael Fassbender dons the cowboy hat and six shooter for Slow West, which sees him as an 19th century outlaw, Silas Selleck, who forces his company upon Scottish immigrant Jay Cavendish (Kodi Smit McPhee) as he searches the American frontier for his love Rose (Caren Pistorious).
The feature debut of director John Maclean (he's probably best known for his short with Fassbender, Man on a Motorcycle, which was , there is an awful lot to like about Slow West. The tone seems to find the right balance between drama and comedy, and there is something incredibly charming about the whole affair, especially Fassbender who is on top form here. And, in case you were wondering, yes, that is The Hound (Rory McCann) as Rose's father.
