The Conjuring was one of the best horror movies in recent years, and that was in no small part due to having director James Wan at helm. Considering that massive success of the film, which spawned the spin-off Anabelle, a sequel was no-brainer. But with Wan currently deep in Fast & Furious 7 territory, he couldn't make it back for the follow-up which had been given a release date of October 23rd 2015.
Yesterday, Warner Bros. took the sequel off their 2015 slate, and moved it to an unspecified date in 2016. The reason? Well, according to Deadline, it's to accommodate the return of Wan, who, once free of his promotional duties for Fast & Furious 7, will begin shooting the sequel in the Summer of 2015. This is a development that has me over the moon about. Wan is one of the best directors we have in horror at the moment, able to scare the bejesus out of his audiences with nothing more than a well placed camera and a creepy sound track.
Not much is known about The Conjuring 2, other than Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson will reprise their roles as real life ghost hunters Lorraine and Ed Warren. Chad and Carey Hayes will again provide the script, based another real-life case the Warren's investigated.
