Entirely shot in Ireland, on a crowd funded budget of €18,000, The Hit Producer had the honour of winning eight wards of excellence at The IndieFEST Film Awards for Feature Film, Directing, Cinematography, Script/Writer, Editing, Best Actress (Michelle Doherty), Best Actor (Neill Fleming), and Title/Credit Design. The film, which is currently doing the rounds on the festival circuit while seeking distribution, follows a struggling movie producer (Doherty) who is blackmailed into a becoming a hit woman for the Dublin underworld.
The IndieFEST is an international competition that recognises film professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change, with the hope, according to IndieFEST judge Thomas Baker, "that the winners will achieve recognition the deserve". Speaking of the win, The Hit Producer's director, producer and editor Kevin de la Isla said, "After such hard and enduring work by all of us involved, it's fantastic to get this prestigious recognition. These IndieFest awards are proof of the blood, sweat and tears we've shed to get this far and a hopeful glimpse of future opportunities to shed some more."
