With Fast & Furious 7 having taken its place as the fourth highest grossing movie of all time, all eyes are on the continuing adventures of Vin Diesel and his high speed loving ‘family’ (sadly minus Paul Walker). While Diesel and the rest of the crew, including Dwayne Johnson, are a given, the rest of the returning cast is a bit harder to pin down (especially when you consider the last movie brought back Lucas Black, however brief, from Tokyo Drift). But now we have one less character to wonder about, with Jason Statham telling Access Hollywood that his villainous Deckard Shaw will indeed be returning for another round, which is teased to be taking place in New York City, saying, “We’re already talking about doing another one, Part 8. I’m a newcomer, I just got invited to the party in this last one, so it’s nice to know I’m going to be doing another.”
Considering were his character ended up at the end of part 7, it’s no surprise that he will be returning, but I have to say having him return so soon did catch me off guard. While we have no confirmation at this point, it might be a safe bet to assume Kurt Russell’s covert ops leader will be returning as well.
Fast and Furious 8 is set for release April 17th 2014.
