Video game adaptions are almost always a bad call, but Michael Fassbender doesn't care, having been attached to Assassin's Creed as co-producer and star for almost a year and a half now. With the movie set for a release on May 22nd 2015, the project now has a director in the form of Justin Kurzel, who worked with Fassbender on the upcoming MacBeth.
Nothing much is known about the movie, other than it is said to be based on the first game in the series, which sees bartender Desmond Miles captured by a mysterious group and forced to relive the memories of his ancestor Altair Ibn La Ahad, a member of an ancient oder of assassins during the Crusades, in search of an ancient artifact of terrible power. Usually I roll my eyes when it comes to movies based on video games, but Assassin's Creed has a rich story running through it, and Fassbender and Kurzel (who previously directed the fantastic Snowtown) fills me with confidence.
