Great news for Simon Pegg fans, the final instalment of the much heralded and highly anticipated three flavours Cornetto trilogy is well on the way and a few details have been released. In an interview with Empire Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg talk about the upcoming project. The final part entitled The World’s End revolves around a pub crawl involving four childhood friends, which include Simon Pegg’s character Gary King while Nick Frost plays Andy Knight. It was leaked a few months ago that the storyline involved the group enjoying a few beers while in the background an apocalyptic event engulfs around them. Now it seems according to Pegg that the plot involves "a crawl through twelve pubs, culminating in the final one, which is The World's End."
Edgar Wright, the film’s director had this to say: "This is as much about where you grew up as the people you grew up with..." the style of this movie is set to be a little more grown up that previous outings, Hot Fuzz and the one that started it all, the epic, Shaun of The Dead. Despite this, Wright is keen to point out that "it's also very silly. I would say it's darker, more personal and more silly."
So with this in mind and after the very successful outings of both Shaun and Hot Fuzz, which direction can fans expect this time around? "Hard to say," Says Wright, before clarifying, "It's a sci-fi comedy." "Social sci-fi," adds Simon Pegg. "Social science-fiction."
All this seems to be good news for us fans and I for one cannot wait for the film to be released; it is due to start shooting in autumn.
