Announced at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Kong: Skull Island (initially titled simply Skull Island) takes us to the dinosaur infested island King Kong called home, for another bout of giant monkey action, no doubt delighting those who got a taste for a resurgence in the giant monster vs giant monster genre thanks to Pacific Rim and Godzilla.
Scheduled to begin shooting in the Autumn, the project hit a snag, according to Deadline, which delayed shooting by two weeks. What was just a minor annoyance became so much more when stars J.K. Simmons and Michael Keaton were forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts (sure, we hear this a lot, but I’m inclined to believe it this time round). Legendary Pictures are currently looking a replacements, but we can rest a bit easy in the knowledge that Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston, is still on board.
Directed by King of Summer’s Jordan Vogt-Roberts, Kong: Skull Island hits our screens March 10th 2017.
