Wrapping up Comic Con is some bizarre news from 20th Century Fox that their big budget superhero blockbuster for this summer, Fantastic Four...
Fox released a statement from director Josh Trank, whereby he attempts to explain the decision.
"I want the viewing experience of Fantastic Four to remain as pure as possible for the audience, which means in 2D, just as we shot the movie."
While that may sound like a fair point from Trank, it will only add fuel to the fire of the rumours of the movie being massively over budget, thanks to extensive reshoots that were necessary after Trank's handling of the film. This is something that Trank has outright denied.
Trank's reasoning seems more out of place given the success the other studios have had this summer with post conversion 3D, most notably Jurassic World which took a good chunk of its massive box office haul from 3D screenings.
Whatever Fox's true reasonings, we may never know. Fantastic Four is due to hit our screens next month and at least we'll be able to judge Trank finally on the finished product that will be unveiled for us all to see. Just file this news under bizarre for now.
