For those looking forward to Warner Bros.'s opening shot in their DC Cinematic Universe, and want to go in completely clean, beware that...
Last night, we got word that Ben Affleck was spotted on the set of Suicide Squad, pointing towards a possible Batman cameo for David Ayer's super villain team-up. But now, we've heard rumours of another possible cameo, this time for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, with Latino Review reporting that Jared Leto's The Joker will be making an appearance in a flashback that brings one of the more infamous moments in Batman's long history, Death in the Family, to the big screen.
For those not in the know, 1988's Death in the Family featured the death of Jason Todd, the second person to take up the Robin mantle, at The Joker's hands, a turn of events voted by a public telephone poll because Todd was a character that didn't really sit well with books readership. As the rumour goes the flashback will be triggered by Affleck's Batman looking upon a glass case holding Todd's costume. This rumour does have some legs in that it would definitely fit in with the darker version of Batman Affleck will be bringing to life, and with a handful of other DC Comics characters making an appearance, from Wonder Woman to Aquaman, Batman v Superman definitely feels like a set up for future movies, so fleshing out Joker's character pre-Suicide Squad makes sense. As aways is the case with this sort of thing, it should be taken with a pinch of salt before we hear anything official.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comes our way March 25th 2015, and Suicide Squad follows later that year on August 5th.
