When Deadpool was finally announced as getting the green light last year, there was a lot of speculation on the rating of the hyper violent, potty mouthed character's big screen outing, with many, including lead star Ryan Reynolds, pushing for an R rating that might have made Fox a bit uneasy, considering the rating would definitely cut the usual audience for a comic book character in half. It's been an issue up in the air for some time, and earlier today a set of tweets from Reynolds seemed to confirm that the movie would be given a more family friendly PG-13 rating.
#deadpool - So we make the blood green. (Views expressed here are mine - not necessarily those of adorable, taint-punchers releasing films)

A PG-13 #deadpool will still have 4th wall breaking, a shit-ton of action and at least 3 chimichangas. Zero need to panic. I promise.

But then this video came online, and half way through, I remembered what day it was:
So, Deadpool indeed has an R rating, and the announcement came together in one elaborate April Fools joke (as well as giving us our first look of the costume in action). If ever a comic book movies production ever captured the spirit of its character, it's Deadpool. I mean, it closes out with a Saved by the Bell reference. If you've ever read a Deadpool comic, you'll know you can't get more Deadpool than that. Well, maybe if he talked about Bea Arthur.
Deadpool shoot, stabs, curses, and fourth wall breaks his way onto the big screen February 16th 2016.
