Many months ago, Rush and Inglorious Basterds star Daniel Brühl signed on for a mystery role in Captain America: Civil War, with him potentially playing a part in Doctor Strange. Savvy Marvel fans rightly guessed his character straight away, but now Brühl, speaking to The Independent, has confirmed he is indeed playing Baron Helmut Zemo, saying "I think I can tell you that without being thrown into Marvel prison".
For who Helmut Zemo is, he's the son of a high ranking Nazi scientist who was a rival to the Red Skull, with the two reluctantly teaming up to take on Captain America during World War 2. The apple didn't fall far from the tree, and Helmut grew up to continue his father's crusade against the Star-Spangled Avenger. His inclusion in Civil War does point to some intriguing possibilities for the movie and future Marvel movies, as he went onto be a thorn in the side of the entire Marvel Universe, especially Hawkeye, leading a team of villains masquerading as heroes called the Thunderbolts.
Captain America: Civil War comes our way May 6th 2016.
