Last year, after close to two decades, Independence Day 2 was finally greenlit! After that, everything was pretty much quiet on Roland Emmerich's return of the monument hating aliens. With production expected to start in May, casting is beginning to be locked down, with Emmerich confirming that the mighty Jeff Goldblum will be reprising his role as David Levinson (no word on whether his world saving Mac Powerbook will be making a return). He will be slotting in beside two new cast members, who both have ties to the original. Jessie Usher, from t.v. show Survivor's Remorse, will be taking the lead as Dylan Hiller, son of Will Smith's Capt. Steven Hiller, and Liam Hemsworth is believed to portraying the son-in-law of Bill Pullman's President Whitmore.
Independence Day was a movie I devoured constantly growing up, and I am beyond excited when the sequel hits our screens June 24th 2016, almost exactly twenty years after the original was released.
