The Deep Blue Good-By is the first movie centred on the character of Travis McGee, a cross between Indiana Jones and Nathan Drake, who will be played by Bale. McGee is a "salvage expert" that lives on a house boat and stays clear of anything that leaves a paper trail. He only works for cash and has one rule; he will recover anything that was taken from you as long as he can keep half.
Dinklage joins the cast as a sidekick of sorts, a maths expert that helps McGee from time to time, while it's still unclear who Pike will play. McGee will be re-imagined as a grizzled army vet hot on the trail of some stolen sapphires. The movie, which sounds like a fucking blast I might add, is being directed by James Mangold and hits cinemas next year.
If it's a success, there are a whole host of Travis McGee novels from which to mine material. Given that we're no closer to a new Indiana Jones movie, this could fill a gap in the market for some old-school action / adventure, and give us a side to Bale we haven't seen before if there's a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek comedy thrown in.
