Arnold Schwarzenegger in a zombie movie. I think we all have a picture in our head on how that would turn out. But in the case of Maggie, which sees the Austrian Oak as a farmer going to great lengths to protect his daughter (Abigail Breslin) when she becomes victim of a deadly zombie epidemic, we would be totally wrong.
Coming from first time director Henry Hobson, this finds Schwarzenegger at a very different speed that what we're used to, giving his dramatic muscles a bit of a work out. Sure there's flashes of action, but this is a side of Arnie we see very rarely, and just from the above trailer, he could surprise us all. On top of that, Maggie promises something a lot different to seperate it from the zombie crowd, offering a fantatsic hook to showcase a more character driven tale set in the zombie apocalypse.
Set to debut last September at the Toronto International Film Festival, Maggie was pulled at the last minute when Lionsgate snapped up the distribution rights, and will now take its bow at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 22nd. It's set for a limited release in America on May 8th, but there's now ord on when we'll see it on this side of the pond. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later.
