Debuting in 2010, Adveture Time has become one of the weirdest, subservise, and downright entertaining cartoons in recent memory, developing a huge fan base among teenagers and adults, as well as it's target kid audience. Following teenager Finn and his magical talking dog Jake (voiced by veteran John Dimaggio, better known as Bender from Futurama) as they get into numerous, utterly barmy adventures in the magical Land of Ooo (actually a post apocalyptic earth ravaged by nuclear war, just one of the many details of the shows hidden, dark mythology), it has become a ratings hit for Cartoon Network, and has seen a number of high profile celebrities lend their vocals, including Neil Patrick Harris, Mark Hamil, Ron Perlman, George Takei, Matthew Broderick, and Andy Samberg.
Now Adventure Time will be coming to the big screen with Warner Bros. charging The Lego Movie producer Roy Lee and the upcoming LEGO Batman's director Chris McKay with producing a feature length version. The series' creator Pendelton Ward is on board to write the screenplay, as well as taking a hand in producing with Cartoon Network. It's the earliest of days yet for the project, so it is a long time from seeing the light of day, but after being introduced to the joys of this wonderful show by my 10 year old son, I can't wait to see its huge array of fantastic characters weave a amazingly weird tale on the big screen.
