Everything went mostly as expected, with most of the awards favorites picking up awards in the major categories, though there were one or surprises, such as The Grand Budapest Hotel beating out Birdman (with both throughly deserving the award), and How To Train Your Dragon 2 picking up the Best Animated Feature award over the much more favoured The LEGO Movie.
