The directorial debut of writing team Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daly (The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, Horrible Bosses, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2), cameras have started rolling on Vacation, the reboot/sequel to the beloved Chevy Chase starring series, with Ed Helms taking the lead as a grown up Rusty Griswold. While it accepted that the story would see a new generation of Griswold's going on a disastrous family vacation, the official synopsis has been released, announcing a the return of a location extremely important to the original movie:
Following in his father's footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold surprises his wife, Debbie, and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America’s "favorite family fun park," Walley World.
Yes, Walley World returns!!!! Joining Helms is Christina Applegate as rusty's wife Debbie, Leslie Mann as Rusty's sister Audrey, Chris Hemsworth as Audrey's husband Stone Crandall, and Charlie Day as river rafting guide, with Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo said to reprise their roles from the original series. I shouldn't be excited for this reboot, because, y'know, reboot, but I love the Vacation series, and the cast fills me with confidence for this movie. No release date has been given as of yet.
