Robin Williams has passed away at the age of 63. The incredibly talented actor and comedian was pronounced dead at this home in Tiburon, California after being found unconscious yesterday afternoon. His death was an alleged suicide.

According to his publicist Mara Buxbaum, through a statement, the actor had been recently suffering from severe depression.

“This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken” his wife Susan Schneider said, also through a statement.

There is alot of people reading this who will never understand depression or suicide, and while there is an equal amount of you who do, let’s not forget that mental illness knows no boundaries. It doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor, black or white, fat or thin or an alien from the planet Ork. While suicide may seem like a selfish option to some of you, when it comes to mental illness it never really is. When the darkness closes in, and no matter how much help you’ve got, it can really take over. It only takes a few seconds to be completely consumed by this disease and it’s these few seconds where you are not in control that can take a life. In the blink of an eye. Depression is a horrific illness. Slowly it can surround a person and before they know it, it’s too late. But help is out there, no matter where you are reading this. Help is in your area. It’ll never find you though, you have to go and find it. And you’re not alone, it affects millions of people, even an incredibly talented, academy award winning actor. So pick up the phone, send an email, call in to a centre. It only takes a few seconds, and please make sure it’s the right few seconds. That’s all it takes. As Robin Williams himself once said “You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.”

Robin Williams, you are going to be missed Sir. Missed more than you’ll ever know. And even though the darkness won out in the end, rest assured that you lit up the world.
May you rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers at The Movie Bit go out to his family at this very difficult time.
