While the DC Comics side of the Warner Bros. Comic-Con panel was mainly concerned with Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, there was some a small detail dropped concerning a movie a bit further down the line on the DC Comics Cinematic Universe schedule, with 2020’s Green Lantern reboot officially titled Green Lantern Corps. This is line with earlier rumours that the new movie will focus on more than one Green Lantern, with future instalments becoming ensemble pieces featuring multiple members of the galaxy spanning police force, both human and alien.
There’s no word on who the protagonists of the first movie will be, but it’d be a safe bet to say it will one of human GL’s, so to ease audiences in, with Hal Jordan (previously played by Ryan Reynolds) and John Stewart being the pairing that makes the most sense. Fast & Furious’ Tyrese Gibson has been teasing something Green Lantern related for a while now, even posting fan art of him as Stewart and Chris Pine as Jordan (a rumoured favourite for the role) to his Instagram. At the moment, there is nothing concrete, but with at least one Green Lantern expected to appear in 2017’s Justice League Part One, we should be hearing casting news very soon.
Green Lantern Corps is set for release June 19th 2020.
