The Paranormal Activity franchise bids us farewell this October with Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, and if this first trailer is anything to go by, it should go out with a bang.

The biggest criticism the series has had since the first sequel in 2010 was how same all the movies felt, and the fact all story development and mythology building seemed tacked onto the back end. This was addressed somewhat with spin-off The Marked Ones, and The Ghost Dimension mixes things up yet again. While I’ll have to wait for the final product, this is all very promising, with some genuine creepiness on offer here, as well as a couple of clever scares, and a nice twist to the story that should help it feel fresh.
Released: October 23rd (U.S.)/ October 30th (IRL/U.K.)
Synopsis: Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension centers on the Fleeges — father Ryan (Chris J. Murray), mother Emily (Brit Shaw) and their young daughter Leila (Ivy George) — who move into a house and discover a video camera and a box of tapes in the garage. When they look through the camera’s lens, they begin to see the paranormal activity happening around them – including the re-emergence of young Kristi and Katie. The video camera footage will be presented in 3D in theaters.
