While we know Ben Affleck will be donning the cowl for next year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017 and 2019’s Justice League parts one and two, information on a solo adventure for his take on the Dark Knight has been very thin on the ground. Until now. According to a rumour from Latino Review, Warner Bros. are eying a November 2018 date for The Batman (putting it alongside The Flash, on March 23rd, and Aquaman, set for July 27th), and not only that, the studio has Affleck in their sights to pull double duty and direct, working from a script by his Argo scribe Chris Terrio, who was brought on board to rewrite David S. Goyer’s Batman v Superman script, and is expected to tackle the Justice League movies.
While it is still just a rumour at this stage, it’s one that isn’t too surprising, considering Warner Bros. approached him to direct Justice League in 2012, a year before he was chosen to be our new Batman. The rumour also falls in line with reports that Affleck’s deal to take on the role included the opportunity to direct a solo Batman adventure for a minimum of three movies under the cowl. Also, it would be quite the coup getting an Oscar winning writer/director team working on their high profile comic book movie.
