Screen icon Sir Christopher Lee has passed away at the age of 93. Lee made famous some incredible role's during his lifetime, none more memorable than his take on Count Dracula during his time as Hammer studios leading man.

With a career spanning almost 70 years of cinema and having appeared in close to 300 feature films, it's hard to think of an actor as prolific as Christopher Lee. Almost every living generation has seen him grace their screens at one point or another, and the multitude of roles he took on were as complex and legendary as the man himself.

From humble beginnings in the mid 40's, through the golden years of Hammer horror in the 50's and 60's, From Bond villains in the 70's, presidents and kings in the 80's and making pop culture appearances in blockbuster fare in the 90's. Taking on two of the biggest franchises in the world in the noughties and continuing right up to the time of his death, it's fair to say that Christopher Lee had seen and done it all in the world of film.

With news of his passing we have lost a giant of cinema, a man whose contributions to the art will be felt for decades more to come. He leaves behind a filmography like no other, a legacy of characters and stories that will stand the test of time and a shadow that will long linger over the studios and franchises he was best known for.

RIP Christoper Frank Carandini Lee
