While we all knew Paul Feig’s upcoming Ghostbusters reboot, apparently the opening shot of a much larger universe, would be mixing things up with an all female cast of ghost hunting heroes, it seems the gander swap won’t end there. Revealed by Feig on Twitter, Chris Hemsworth has been added to cast, taking the role of the team's receptionist, one that previously belonged to Annie Potts’ Janine Melnitz. While he’s best known as the muscle bound Thor, Hemsworth has shown he has quite the knack for comedy, be it his witty asides as the Odinson or what we’ve seen of his turn in the upcoming Vacation. Though, he does have his work cut out for him, since Potts made Janine such a brilliant and larger than life character.
Hemsworth is the newest cast member announced since the reveal of Kirsten Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon as the newest team of Ghostbusters, and with production expected to begin shortly, we should hear more casting news in the coming weeks.
Released: July 22nd 2016
