While it may have devided people with how big, loud, and, let’s face it, dumb as it was, there’s no denying Lucy was a huge return to form for Luc Besson, who wasn’t really bringing his A game in recent years. Now, Besson is staying in the realm of sci-fi with Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, an adaption of French comic book series Valerian and Laureline, what he calls “the biggest challenge of his career”. The ambitious project is set for a Summer 2017 release date, and is expected to begin production near the end of this year, with Chronicle’s Dane Dehaan and Cara Delevingne (next year’s Suicide Squad) stepping into the shoes of time travel agents Valerian and Laureline, who travel through time and space trying to maintain order in the 28th century.
The movie has also seen Besson has popped his social media cherry, setting up Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts, chronicling his time on the epic project in the public eye.
