Duncan Jones is an exciting prospect right now. Having delivered a taut and magnificently acted debut with Moon, and then followed up with the flawed but entertaining and thrilling Source Code, he's currently putting together his first big Hollywood blockbuster - Warcraft.
I can't tell you a whole lot about the adaptation because I've never played the game (I can't afford to lose another 30 hours of my week to online shenanigans!!), but I can tell you I'm really looking forward to seeing what he does with this property.
The scale of the world that the players inhabit is insanely huge and because if the scope of the universe he has to mine for stories, there really could be some magnificent tales to tell with this franchise. Fantasy movies have proven to be big business and it doesnt get much bigger in the world of fantasy than Warcraft.
Here's our first look at a character called Ogrim the Orc from the movie. I gotta admit, I love the look of this and it immediately feels like they've committed to bringing as much detail as they can to this incredible world. Warcraft arrives next summer, and for those of us left with a void after Peter Jackson's epic journey into Tolkien's works, it cant come fast enough.
