Principal photography has begun on Marvel Studio’s Phase Three kick off, Captain America: Civil War, and the official synopsis has come our way, revealing what Cap’s third movie has in store for us:
Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
As well, as the synopsis, the full cast list has been announced, and it is MASSIVE!! So, we have Chris Evan’s picking up the shield once more of course, but we also have Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Sebastian Stan (Bucky/The Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Paul Bettany (The Vision), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), and Elisabeth Olson (Scarlet Witch).
Also joining in non-Avengers roles are Emily Van Camp, reprising her role of Sharon Carter from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the similarly returning Frank Grillo as villainous henchman Crossbones, Daniel Bruhl as big bad Baron Zemo, Chadwick Boseman making his MCU debut as Black Panther, and Martin Freeman whose role is still being kept a secret. Two surprising additions to the cast are Paul Rudd reprising his role as Ant-Man, following his solo movie out in June, and William Hurt’s General Ross, not seen since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.
Captain America: Civil War comes our way May 6th 2016.
