Two days ago, we found out that director Michelle MacLaren had left Wonder Woman, the official statement from Warner Bros. citing "creative differences". It was a development that didn't bode well for the project, but the studio doesn't seem to be wasting any time finding a replacement with The Hollywood Reporter bringing us word that Patty Jenkins (Monster) will be taking MacLaren's place in the director's chair. Jenkins has had her own brush with "creative differences", at one point she was in line to direct Thor: The Dark World but parted ways with Marvel Studios, making the way clear for Alan Taylor.
Being once attached to the Thor sequel obviously indicates that the super hero genre is one that Jenkins wants to play in, and the two properties being pretty similar since they mix mystical elements in with the super heroics. Hopefully, Jenkins vision will be more in line with Warner Bros. (rumours are doing the rounds that MacLaren wanted to include a tiger sidekick, possibly too over the top for Warner Bros. gritty approach to the DC heroes), as cameras are expected to start rolling on Wonder Woman later this year.
Gal Gadot will make an appearance as Wonder Woman in next year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, before going onto her own solo effort on June 23rd 2017.
