Galaxy Quest, an absolute gem of a sci fi comedy, is finally getting an expanded story, but this time the crew will be headed to the small screen for more adventures.
The original movie, released in 1999, managed to lovingly lampoon a trope of sci fi series (most notably Star Trek), while at the same time playing homage to them with a knowing nod of respect towards what makes them so popular - the fans.
Now we have word that Paramount is moving forward with a Galaxy Quest tv show. The movie's writer and director will both be involved in the project, but we'll likely see an entirely new cast. Galaxy Quest starred Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Sam Rockwell and Tony Shaloub. If you haven't seen it, you really need to remedy that.
