That little yellow sponge that needs absolutely no introduction is back on the big screen along with all his crustacean companions in The Sp...
SpongeBob finds himself joining forces with his long time adversary, Plankton, after the top-secret recipe for Krabby Patties is stolen.
SpongeBob is something is completely and utterly review proof. If you like him, you'll love this. If you hate the Sponge (seriously, what's wrong with you?) then Sponge Out Of Water will do nothing to change your mind.
Insanity abounds from beginning to end, and it's in the latter half when SpongeBob and his friends end up in the real world that things are really, really fantastic. Some stunning Cgi brings our literal heroes to life as they track down and go head to head with Burger Beard (Antonio Banderas, who looks like he had an absolute blast here).
The movie is full of great little pop culture references throughout and it absolutely thunders along. It's hard to find fault here as the insanity brings laugh after laugh (big and small) but an incredibly annoying Alan Carr, who voices one of the Burger Beard's seagull friends, really grates on you in a matter of seconds. That aside though, Banderas is slightly underused, and it's shame as he is incredibly likeable.
Ultimately, Sponge Out Of Water is an absolute mountain of insanity and while not as demented as the TV show itself, it still brings the laughs and the glorious 3D realisation of the characters is worth the price of admission alone.
