Busy week for Kevin Smith news folks. Hot on the heels of his announcement that Clerks III will begin shooting in a couple of months is the announcement that a follow up to Mallrats is on the way.

The above was tweeted by Smith over the weekend, and almost exactly 20 years after the original Mallrats wrapped filming.
Smith has gone on to confirm that the rat he teased in that tweet is indeed a reference to a Mallrats sequel, saying it's half scripted and they're currently exploring who might come back. The original tale of slacker romance and redemption starred Ben Affleck, Jason Lee, Shannon Doherty, Claire Forlani and Jeremy London.
