Roland Emmerich has taken to Twitter to announce that a familiar face will back to tackle an alien menace in the follow up to 1996's Independence Day. No, it's still not Will Smith.
Jeff Goldblum will apparently reprise his role as tech whiz David Levinson in the sequel which is due out next year, a full 20 years after the first film was a box office smash. While it's great to see the likes of Goldblum involved, I just cant bring myself to get excited about this movie.
Add to this the news that Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher, the latter of who will play the son of Smith's character from the first movie, are both in too and so far I'm just underwhelmed. I loved the original, but so far I've yet to see anything that would convince me a sequel is justified.
