Toilets are useless according to the Boov, a race of aliens just after invading earth, and they proceed to remove all toilets from the plane...
Following Tip, her cat "pig" and an outcast alien named Oh, they unlikely pair team up and try to save the world. Serving as nothing more but a 90 minute commercial for Rihanna, Home is devoid of any laughs and entertainment for audiences of any age. Every 10 minutes sees some montage or bland set piece acting as visual fodder for ANOTHER Rihanna song. Not content with 10 albums worth of material stuffed into the movie, Rihanna also voices the human lead, Tip.
Alongside Steve Martin, Jennifer Lopez and Jim Parsons, they lend their vocal talents to a bunch of characters that are devoid of any design or likebility. The aliens look like they were designed by a bunch of blind chimps and as for their human counterparts, they are equally poor in design and style. However, a few choice moments towards the end showcase that some of the animators actually turned up for work for a few days. However, with the exception of Steve Martin, nobody else seemed to turn up for vocal acting duties, with the cast regurgitating their lines with about as much conviction as a 6 year old reading the news.
It's not that Home is bad, it's brutal. While there might be some excuse for a fledgling studio attempting to make their stamp in animation, coming from Dreamworks Animation who have the likes of Shrek and How to train your Dragon under their belt, it's inexcusable.
Kids won't laugh, neither will the adults and while it's dragged out finale may provide some nano seconds of entertainment, don't expect any more than that.
