With production set to begin early next year, the planned The Crow reboot, with Luke Evans donning the iconic make up, has lost director F. Javier Gutierrez due to his signing on to direct the next movie in The Ring franchise. Both movie's shooting dates conflicted, so Gutierrez stepped away from The Crow, leaving the vacant directors chair to be filled by Corin Hardy. A relative new comer, his feature debut, The Hallow, will be released next year, and he has directed a number of shorts and music videos, including The Prodigy's Warrior's Dance, and Devlin and Ed Sheeran's Watchtower. A look at his back catalogue, which includes a number of stop motion animations, shows a dark visual flair which should suit the project. I haven't been open to the project since it was announced (the original holds a very special place in my heart), but Hardy coming on board, and the original graphic novel's creator James O'Barr in place as creative consultant, I can at least say my interest is piqued.
