Recognising the years best in the field of animation, the nominations for the 42nd Annual Annie Awards have been announced, and Cartoon Saloon's (Secret of Kells) Song of the Sea has picked up seven nominations: Best Animated Feature, Best Director (for Tomm Moore), Best Character Design, and Outstanding Achievements in Music, Writing, Production Design, and Editing. In the Best Animated Feature category it sees itself going up against Big Hero 6, Cheatin', The Book of Life, The Boxtrolls, How to Train Your Dragon 2, The LEGO Movie, and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya. Another Irish animation, short Coda, was also nominated for Best Animated Short.
The 42nd Annual Annie Awards takes place on Saturday January 31st.
