You have no doubt watched the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer a trillion times already, and are probably scratching your head, along with everyone else, at who the gravelly, menacing narration belongs to. Good money seemed to be on Benedict Cumberbatch (even though he was never mentioned when the cast was announced) or Max von Sydow (who was actually confirmed). But this morning, American time, Good Morning America revealed it was Andy Serkis, channelling his best Caesar from the Planet of the Apes movie.
There is no word on who Serkis is playing, or if he is even the dark figure with the broadsword style lightsaber, but Jedi News have unearthed rumours that he will play two roles, one as part of an extremely athletic and acrobatic group of motion capture artists, and another that is pivotal to the first act story arc and the back story of Daisy Ridley's character. It is still over a year till the movie is released, and with JJ Abrams at the helm, we are no doubt in for the long haul of rumours and the painfully slow dripping of information like this, but judging by the first trailer, it should be all worth it.
