When it was announced that Gal Gadot would be following up her turn as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with a solo outing for DC's Amazonian warrior in 2017, all talk immediately turned to who would chosen as director, with Warner Bros. looking to hire a woman for the job in keeping with the characters association with female empowerment. Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) and Lesi Linka Glatter (director and co-executive producer on Homeland) were among the many considered, but Warner Bros. have announced their decision, with Michelle MacLaren, who was previously reported to be front runner, signing on the dotted line to bring Wonder Woman's adventures to the big screen. Primarily working in the realm of T.V., MacLaren has an impressive back catalogue under her belt, working on several episodes of The X-Files, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad (she was also executive producer).
