With Exodus: Gods and Kings hitting the big screen in November, Ridley Scott has turned his attention to his next movie, The Martian, based Andy Wier's 2012 e-book about an astronaut stranded on Mars after the first manned space mission to the Red Planet goes disastrously wrong. Matt Damon is taking the lead as stranded astronaut Mark Watney, with Jeff Daniels, Michael Pena, Kristen Wiig, and Jessica Chastain providing support. Now this impressive cast has grown by one, with Sean Bean signing on the dotted line to appear in the movie, marking this as his third space tinged movie in a row after The Wachowski's Jupiter Rising and the Adam Sandler starring Pixels. No doubt the "Don't Kill Sean Bean" memes will be out in force as The Martian gets closer to its release date.
The Martian is expected to hit U.S. cinemas on November 25th 2015, while taking a bow on this side of the pond two days later.
