With North Korea declaring all kinds of death and destruction if the new Seth Rogen / James Franco movie, The Interview (where Rogen and Franco attempt to assasinate Kim Jong Un) isn’t pulled from release, Sony have decided to tweak the movie somewhat. The soldiers in the movie wear badges with the faces of Kim Jong Un and Kim Jong ll imprinted on them and the studio have decided to remove them digitally to avoid clearance issues, let alone the fact that showcasing military decorations would be considered blasphemous.
Another change that the studio are making involves a scene where Kim Jong Un’s face is melted off. Sony feels this doesn’t work for the movie’s comedic tones and therefore this scene could be cut entirely. Of course it’s to do with the movies comedic tones, nothing to do with diplomatic relations or the fact that North Korea have a few nukes in a shed somewhere.
Regardless of World War III, the movie is starting to sound like a dumber and dumber idea the more I think about it. I love Rogen and Franco, but this just seems like a pointless idea when everybody was half baked.
