Legendary pictures have announced that the sequel to the rather epic Godzilla will be released on June 8th 2018. Gareth Edwards will return to the director chair, but before he does he’ll be sitting in the directors chair for one of the Star Wars spin-offs, which is dated by for a December 16th, 2016, apparently.
Those of you hoping for a Godzilla vs King Kong movie, may have to hold your breath a bit longer. However, keep in mind that Skull Island (also from Legendary) is due for release in November 2016, and wouldn’t be awesome if a post credit teaser had something that would go to set up the monster fight to end all monster fights. While Mothra and Rodan are booked in for the Godzilla sequel, it still is a slim possibility that Godzilla 3 (provided it’s green lit) could have the monster fight to end all monster fights! We can live in deluded hope.
