It’s been common knowledge now for quite some time that the US military was rather keen on building an Iron Man style suit and now some more information has surfaced via the Wall Street Journal. The suit would be known as TALOS and of course it would provide the wearer with all kinds of super powers such as super strength and perception. And for good measure expect bullet protection and live vitals monitoring.
With the likes of Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics reportedly getting involved, it comes as a bit of a surprise that Legacy Effects are getting involved too. It’s not so much of a surprise when you realise that Legacy Effects created the suit for the movies and are helping out with the design as well as providing 3D printed prototypes. Legacy are helping out on behalf of Ekso Bionics who make exoskeletons.
While TALOS sounds like an awesome super hero name, currently it’s not exactly too mobile. The suit developers are expecting it to weigh as much as 400 pounds and The Pentagon reckon that 365 pounds of that might need to be the batteries alone! That’s the biggest issue with suit currently, but the military seem confident and say the would like to deploy the suit as soon as 2018.
Either way, it sounds absolutely awesome! Can you imagine the recruitment drive that could happen when this thing launches? Sign us up! But we want JARVIS on board!
