Richard Linklater’s latest movie is quite some time in the making, as it follows the life of a young boy, called Mason (Ellar Coltrane) from the age of 5 to 18. It’s a coming of age story and revolves around Mason’s relationship with his divorced parents, but the big difference here is that it was shot intermittently over a twelve year period. The movie began filming in Summer 2002 and wrapped in October 2013. The movie is released tomorrow in Irish and UK cinemas (albeit a limited release in Ireland from what I can see) and the following Friday (17th) in the States. The movie also stars Ethan Hawke, Patricia Arquette and Lorelei Linklater.

This is unique filmmaking and something that is required viewing if the heaps of praise that have been bestowed on it since Sundance are anything to go by! In the meantime, we’ve got some latest images from Boyhood below. And in case you missed, check out the video below too.
