We loved Guardians Of The Galaxy (read our loved fill review here) and while the movie isn’t out until next week, a sequel is on the cards and James Gunn is back on board to write and direct. However, Marvel have not confirmed the story (originally posted on The Wrap) but James Gunn’s writing partner said “"They started to figure it out pretty quick when they started getting the reactions from the audience; it was a very positive reaction. Of course they would want to make a sequel as long as it does well and people are excited about it, they'll wanna do a sequel. So, it's going to happen. James will be directing ‘Guardians 2,’ so he would also be writing ‘Guardians 2."
Gunn himself has said recently that if Guardians does well, he would direct the sequel and if it doesn’t do well, he has some other offers to consider. While it’s rare that Marvel studios use the same director twice (Jon Favreau and Joss Whedon being the exceptions), given how good Guardians is, let alone the reactions it’s getting from audiences and press alike, they’d be insane not to use Gunn again!
