If you've been visiting The Movie Bit for a while, you might be aware that I am absolutely in love with the concept of The Purge. A world where crime is completely legal for one night a year, allowing for normal people to act their deepest darkest desires, is completely fascinating, and has so, so much potential. Unfortunately, the first movie anchored the concept to a generic house under siege story, but I still had faith that the inevitable sequel could turn it around. Judging from this new trailer for The Purge: Anarchy, we're finally getting the concept done properly. This time round, an entire city block is the playground for a whole host of morally reprehensible individuals believing they have the right to slaughter and pillage as they see fit, with a group of innocents, led by Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), trying to survive the night.
As well as the trailer, we have a new poster which gives us a look at some of the masked killers who will be raising hell when the movie hits the big screen.
Released July 18th USA / July 25th IRELAND & UK
